I went to Signet in Plantation (because it was their only site that could do a bone scan).  The CT scan of my shoulder was run first.  The reason was that, once I was given the Tc99 (Technetium or Tc is the element and 99 refers to the radioactive isotope) by injection into a vein, no one else on staff could touch me because I would be “radioactive”.  The CT scan was quick.  Then I was given the injection of the Tc99.  I had to wait 2 hours for the isotope to course through my body so that any other problem in my skeleton would show up and we’d know how much of a problem I had from the scan.  I came back 2 hours later after some lunch and the scanner checked my whole skeleton – toes to top of skull.
