Well, this is quick!

I saw Warren today, and he said that all of my numbers were up, except one of my so-called light chains. He spoke with James and we (Warren, James, and me) have agreed to a new therapy to start Thursday, June 6.

This therapy will include the recently approved Kyprolis (carfilzomib), Doxil (doxorubicin) at 1/3 the usual dose, with Decadron (dexamethasone) at 20 mg, once per week. I start on Thursday, June 6th. I will also need to take Zovirax (acyclovir) twice a day as a protectant from the Kyprolis to protect against getting shingles. The plan is that I complete at least 3 cycles and then consider the stem cell transplant. This would mean a stem cell transplant in September. We’ll see how this all goes.

In the meantime, it seems that the curcumin has been of little use except possibly for the light chain item. I may continue at about 1/2 the dose I have been taking.

I’ve been wondering of late whether my reluctance to proceed with a stem cell transplant has more to do with a fear of what may happen during or an intellectual thinking that perhaps I really just don’t need it. Well, as I said to a friend not long ago, he should be just letting go and letting God. Perhaps I need to follow my own advice!

More to come on Thursday after my first dose of the new regimen.

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for my healing.

Amen.
